Take Stock in Children Mentors receive Congressional Recognition
Pasco County, FL – August 17, 2017 — Take Stock in Children, a program with the Pasco Education Foundation providing Scholarships, Mentors & Hope to at-risk Pasco County School’s students announced certain mentors of the program were awarded Congressional Recognition. The mentors were celebrated at the recent “Heroes Among Us” event hosted by U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis at the Pasco Hernando State College West Campus.
The Take Stock in Children mentors recognized were Fern Aefsky, Melba Hamilton, Joyce Martin, Bob Memoli, Dee Murray, Betsy Wunderlich. Their time, dedication and loyalty to the many TSIC students they mentor on a regular basis throughout the course of several years make

Take Stock in Children, with the mission of breaking the cycle of poverty is currently servicing 141 high school students in Pasco County. Students must demonstrate willingness to maintain good grades and behavior, meet with a volunteer mentor, and attend college/ career readiness workshops as part of the commitment to Take Stock in Children. Students completing obligations will receive up to a four year tuition- paid scholarship to a Florida public state college or university. TSIC Pasco has a 96% success rate with 95% of the students being the first in their families to attend college. Take Stock in Children, along with the Pasco Education Foundation is partnered with Pasco County Schools.
